Prospect Invite Jan. 15 to battle breast cancer

The annual Knights Invitational at Prospect Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m. will have a new important theme.
The meet is being called Prospect's Pink Power Invitational to focus on the color pink and its symbolization of breast cancer awareness and encouraging donations for research.
At the invite, proceeds from spectators' entrance fees and concessions will go toward a donation. A pink leotard has been donated that will be raffled off. A donation box also will be available with pink gymnastics bracelets and/or pink ribbon temporary tattoos available to anyone who contributes.
"One of our assistant coaches, Lynette Tutt, is a breast cancer survivor. (We are doing this) in her honor and those others that have been affected by breast cancer or have a friend/family member who has," Prospect coach Randy Smith said. "We are raising awareness about breast cancer to young women. The invitational is a wonderful way to educate young athletes while raising money to support an organization through gymnastics competition."
Those attending the meet are encouraged to wear pink. Breast cancer survivors especially are encouraged to attend and to have their names announced and to be honored in a brief ceremony.
